PermalinkThe mother, Michelle Wilkins, answered a Craigslist ad for baby clothes on March 18.
When she arrived at the purported seller's home in Longmont, she was attacked, beaten, cut open and her fetus was removed. The baby did not survive.1
The horror of this act is incredible. But more over:
After the attack, prosecutors said it may be hard to muster a murder charge. Colorado state law does not recognize a fetus as a person, unless it is capable of surviving for a period of time outside the womb, a prosecutor said then.1
Colorado doesn’t consider a unborn baby a person. This is because of abortion supporters, “pro-choicers.” You want the law to protect your “choice” to rip your unborn child from your womb, limb-from-limb, and not be called the murderer that you are, but the consequence is that women can be brutally attacked and have their unborn children removed by force and the only charge that can be brought against their attacker is “unlawful termination of a pregnancy”2 and assault charges against the mother. Because you want the choice to murder your child, anyone can murder an unborn child and get away with it.
This is fucked up.
PermalinkThis teaching is admittedly unpopular in our late modern times. Yet Scripture shows no interest in being popular or relevant—that is, in being adapted, revised, or censored to align with ever-shifting times. We must remain countercultural wherever the culture and the truth are at odds. It is this posture that makes Christians truly relevant in the culture.
But that’s okay. Apple knows that success isn’t measured by “first.” It’s measured by “best.” And that’s kind of Cupertino’s thing.
Like all the forum and comment trolls, screaming “first” gets you nothing.

Beautiful new app from Mike Rundle. Cannot wait to put this to use. Would have been great when we were out at Starved Rock over the weekend.

PermalinkIt’s usually hard to take Schwarzenegger seriously, but this film actually looks very promising as a serious drama. With zombies?
PermalinkToday the new Fantastical 2 is out for Mac. Instead of being just a menu bar app— saying “just” is an understatement, as it was a powerful, featured menu bar app— this update brings a full-on Calendar replacement to match the power and feature set of the iOS apps.
I have long used Fantastical on my phone, though I never bought it for my iPad or Mac. $6.99 isn’t a bad price for iPad, but I just don’t use a calendar enough to justify it. For the Mac, the cost is $39.99. If you use your calendar every day, this is certainly the app you need. Beautiful, powerful, and just a great app. I’ll be using the trial until it expires.

That’s how many apps I had this morning as I flipped through the homescreens on my phone this morning. Half of them have been deleted or relocated to my iPad now. Games I played a few times, social apps I tried for a day, lots of photography apps, crappy keyboards, and stuff that had been filed away into folders to never be touched in months.

That’s a lot better now. Not great, but a lot better. I could get rid of 10 more if I remove those I use once a month. Another 17 if I remove those used less than that. But for now, 75 is better.
PermalinkHow much time do you waste on your phone? I know I waste a lot. Over the weekend I took a break (mostly) from tech and headed out to Starved Rock State Park for a hike. There is zero signal in the majority of the area. We got lost on the way out to the park and had no signal to use Google to find our way. I had to use my nature skills to continue heading west and hope I hit something. It was a joy to not be tethered. Do you take a break from time to time or are you always on?
PermalinkThis isn’t the Quartz Crisis. This isn’t iPhone circa 2007. Apple isn’t Seiko, TAG Heuer isn’t Nokia, and Montblanc isn’t RIM. The worst thing any of these luxury watchmakers can do is to try to take on Apple in the mobile computing industry. It’s a waste of money.
It’s weird seeing these watchmakers scramble to challenge the Apple Watch. Apple is targetting the everyday customer. Yes, the Apple Watch is a piece of jewelry and unnecessary. But the iPod was unnecessary as well.
This isn’t your $20 Walmart watch or your $150 Fossil watch. But it also isn’t in the same class as the $10,000 TAG Heuer watch. Those in the market for TAG Heuer will likely get an Apple Watch too. They won’t be losing their market. So they shouldn’t be trying to chase something that lessens their brand.
