The company on Wednesday confirmed that it partnered with Jon Favreau for a new The Lion King film, production of which has been fast tracked. Favreau also directed “the technologically groundbreaking smash hit The Jungle Book” movie that hit theaters a few months ago.
This summer’s The Jungle Book was a pure pleasure to watch. I cannot wait to see what they do with The Lion King.

Yes, Disney did recycle animation, but it wasn’t done to save money or time, and it wasn’t animators being lazy, and it wasn’t company policy. And now you know.
Yeah. A couple weeks ago I was sitting in an auto-repair shop with WGN News on, listening to them calling the animators lazy. If only they knew how websites are built…

The promo art so far seems to show the Superman suit being brighter. My biggest fear with this movie is that it is as dark as a Batman film. Superman needs to be brighter and lighter. Leave the brooding to Batman.

Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios officially announced today that Sony is bringing Marvel into the amazing world of Spider-Man! Under a new deal, a new Spider-Man (not Andrew Garfield) will first appear in a currently-unspecified Marvel film within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.
When it comes to comics, I’m a DC guy. Specifically, Superman and Justice League. But I love what Marvel Studios has been able to do with their Cinematic Universe as much as every other nerd. Rumors have persisted for quite a white that Sony (who owns the rights to Spider-Man) could work with Marvel Studios to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Out of all the Marvel properties that Marvel Studios doesn’t own, Spider-Man is the biggest and most successful. So now it is official, Spider-Man is coming to Marvel Studios— in collaboration with Sony Pictures. I could not be more excited.
